Background

Over the last 15 years this practice has been actively involved in the design and construction of Residential Care Homes. Experience

Since 1991 both senior partners in the practice have operated a 48-bedded care home in Hertfordshire in the independent sector.

Jeremy Poyser spent 4 years as Project Controller with a national housing association and is conversant with Housing Corporation finance and procedures. The practice has been involved with various sheltered housing projects.

The practice has experience in working with the Education and Social Service Departments of Local Authorities. It has been responsible for upgrading of local authority homes prior to their externalisation to bring them into compliance under the former Registered Homes Act.

Registration Authorities

Over the past 10 years Jerry Wakefield has become involved in consultations and negotiations with Registration Authorities, formerly under the Registered Homes Act 1984. The Commission for Social Care Inspection now oversees the current Care Standards Act and resultant regulations. This legislation is central to the operation of any establishment and its future set within the health care sector. It is important to understand the changing emphasis that government places on the implementation of the National Care Standards.
